Dental Crowns
Dentist Monroe
A crown is often recommended to restore weak, cracked or chipped teeth. A crown is made of strong material that protects the natural tooth. Crowns are placed on top of the remaining portion of the natural tooth. They are typically recommended after root canal therapy.
Crowns can last years. They are made of some of the strongest materials and can now be made to match the rest of your teeth and can be almost undetectable to the naked eye.
When placing a crown, your dentist will want to make sure the fit and color are just right. Your dentist may have an in office lab or Cerec machine or he or she may send your case to the laboratory in order to be custom molded to your remaining tooth structure.
If you believe you need a crown for a tooth, it’s important to see your dentist immediately. Postponement of receiving a dental crown can lead to serious oral health problems. Crowns are often used when there is deep decay or a lack of enamel. Without enamel, your nerves are left unprotected and decay can easily wreak havoc.
